Doctoral Position (m/f/d) - "Scale Matters" in GreenRobust Cluster of Excellence
The Department of Plant Ecology investigates how plants respond to environmental change through complex, often nonlinear dynamics. Combining experiments, field monitoring, ecophysiology, and modelling, our research improves predictions of ecosystem functioning and supports sustainable land-use and climate adaptation. Your tasks
- Contribute to refine & benchmark an existing prototype open-chamber system to measure plant gas exchange.
- Experimentally quantify reaction norms of plant gas exchange to CO2 and light across different scales.
- Quantify scaling relationships of gas exchange from leaf via individual to stand level using process-based models.
- Communication and publication of conducted scientific research.
- Supervision of thesis candidates (Bachelor and Master).
Your profile
- Completed Masters-degree (plant or ecology focussed)
- Curiosity-driven, self-motivated and methodic
- Strong interpsersonal skills and ability to work well in a team (e.g. ask for and offer help as needed)
- Willingness to learn and develop new skillsets
- Basic experience with programming languages and data organisation
- Excellent written and spoken English skills; if possible German knowledge
